EgyptAir Flight Reservation for Visa Applications

EgyptAir Flight Reservation for Visa Applications

Contents of the Guide

If you are applying for a visa from Egypt, or travelling from the Gulf via Cairo, EgyptAir is often the most suitable airline for your itinerary. What many people call a “dummy ticket” on EgyptAir is in fact a confirmed flight reservation with a PNR that appears on the airline’s website, which you include in your visa file without paying for the ticket before the decision. On this page you will learn how to verify the reservation, what embassies in Egypt ask for, and how to order it online.

  • A PNR you can verify on egyptair.com
  • A PDF in English within 6 to 24 hours

Why an EgyptAir flight reservation?

EgyptAir is Egypt’s national carrier and a member of Star Alliance, operating direct flights from Cairo to most European and Arab capitals. Booking a direct flight from your country of residence to the country you are applying to gives the visa officer a clear route, and makes it easy to buy the same flight once your visa is issued, if it suits you.

Embassies do not require a specific airline, but they do care that the route is logical and consistent with the rest of your file: the hotel booking, the travel itinerary and the insurance period.

How to verify your reservation on the EgyptAir website

  1. Open egyptair.com or the EgyptAir app.
  2. Select “Manage Booking”.
  3. Enter the PNR and your surname exactly as in your passport.
  4. Check that the flight numbers, dates and route match the file you received.

The visa officer may use these same steps to check your reservation, which is why we only issue real reservations. An altered document that does not appear in the airline’s system can lead to a visa refusal and affect your future applications.

Applying from Egypt: what do embassies ask for?

Schengen embassies in Cairo accept applications through VFS, TLS or BLS centres, depending on the country. The core documents in an Egyptian applicant’s file are:

  • A return flight reservation covering your travel dates.
  • A hotel booking for every night, on the same dates as your flights.
  • Travel medical insurance with €30,000 cover valid in all Schengen countries.
  • A bank statement, usually for the last 6 months, plus an employer letter or commercial register.
  • A day-by-day itinerary if your trip includes more than one city or country.

The full checklist is in our guide to Schengen visa requirements.

How long does the reservation stay valid?

A flight reservation usually stays valid for 48 hours to 14 days, depending on the route. Add your embassy appointment date in the notes and we will make sure the reservation is valid on the day of your interview. Once it expires, it is cancelled automatically with no obligation on your part. More details on the flight reservation page.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change the reservation details after it is issued?

The reservation itself cannot be edited, but we can issue a new one with the correct details. Contact us through our contact page before your appointment.

Do I have to pay for the ticket later?

No. The reservation is cancelled automatically when it expires, and you pay no extra fees.

Can the embassy verify the reservation online?

Yes, using the PNR and your surname on the EgyptAir website.

Is the reservation suitable for a student visa?

Yes, if the embassy accepts a reservation instead of a ticket. Some student and immigration visas require a one-way ticket or no booking at all, so check your embassy’s requirements.

Can I book from an airport other than Cairo?
