Flight Reservation for Visa & Schengen with a Verifiable PNR

Most visa applicants are puzzled by the return ticket requirement: embassies ask for one, yet advise against buying a paid ticket before the visa is approved. That is why many people turn to what is often called a “dummy ticket”. In reality it is not a fake ticket, but a genuine flight reservation with a PNR registered in the airline’s system, which you and the embassy can verify on the airline’s website.

What you will receive

One PDF in English per order, sent to the email address in the form, including:

  • Each traveller’s name exactly as in their passport.
  • The PNR: a 6-character code of letters and numbers you use to verify the booking on the airline’s website.
  • The airline name and flight numbers.
  • Departure and return cities and dates, or every stop if the trip is multi-city.
  • The date the reservation was issued.

The file is ready to print and goes into your visa file like any flight booking. You can see what it looks like in the sample at the top of the page.

What is a flight reservation for a visa?

A flight reservation is a seat held in your name on a real flight in the airline’s booking system, without the ticket being issued or paid for. The reservation gets a PNR, the same number you use to look up any booking on the airline’s Manage Booking page.

Embassies and visa centres ask for a flight booking to prove your itinerary: when you arrive, where you leave from and when you return. At the same time, most of them advise against buying a non-refundable ticket before the visa is issued, because the application may be delayed or refused. A flight reservation solves this: it proves your itinerary without risking the price of a ticket.

Note that a flight reservation is not a travel ticket. You cannot board a plane with it; once your visa is issued, you buy your actual ticket from the airline or any travel agent.

How to get a flight reservation for a visa, step by step

  1. Book your embassy appointment first. A reservation has limited validity, so it is best to order it one or two days before your appointment.
  2. Choose the trip type. Return is best for tourist and visit visas; you can also order one-way or multi-city if you will visit more than one country.
  3. Fill in traveller details exactly as in the passport, letter by letter, including the middle name.
  4. Select cities and dates that match your hotel booking, itinerary and insurance period.
  5. Pay the service fee online, and add a hotel booking and itinerary if you need them.
  6. Receive the file and verify it. Open the airline’s website and search with the PNR and surname before you print it.

The details we need from you

  • Full name in English and date of birth for each traveller.
  • Departure city, arrival city and country.
  • Departure date and return date.
  • Email address and phone number.
  • Your embassy appointment date and preferred airline, in the notes.

Reservation validity and the PNR

How long does the reservation stay valid?

It depends on the airline and route, usually between 48 hours and 14 days. That is why we ask for your embassy appointment date and issue the reservation so it is valid on the day of your interview.

How do you verify the PNR yourself?

  1. Open the website of the airline shown in the file, such as Saudia, EgyptAir or Qatar Airways.
  2. Go to the Manage booking page.
  3. Enter the PNR and surname exactly as in the passport.
  4. You will see the same flight details as in your file.

What if the reservation expires before the embassy decides?

There is no need to worry. Embassies do not necessarily check that a flight reservation remains valid throughout the processing period, and its expiry after submission may not affect the visa decision. However, verification procedures differ from one embassy to another.

If the embassy asks you for an updated reservation, we can issue a new one with the same details at 50% off the service price.

Is the reservation cancelled automatically?

Yes. It is cancelled from the airline’s system when it expires, with no fees or obligation on your part.

Flight and hotel reservations for your visa application

Most Schengen files need a flight reservation, a hotel booking covering the whole stay and a day-by-day itinerary, and the dates of all three must match. That is why you can order all three together for $64 per traveller ($17 for the flight, $18 for the hotel and $29 for the itinerary), prepared with matching dates and cities.

Choose all three services in the form above, or order each one from its own page: hotel booking and visa itinerary.

Flight and hotel bookings for a Schengen visa: what embassies ask for

The EU Visa Code requires applicants to provide evidence of the purpose of the trip, accommodation and return. In practice, most application centres (VFS, TLS and BLS) ask applicants from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, Jordan, Morocco and Algeria for the following:

  • A return flight reservation covering the travel dates; the ticket does not have to be paid for.
  • A hotel booking or proof of accommodation for every night of the stay.
  • Travel medical insurance valid in all Schengen countries with at least €30,000 cover. Order it from our travel insurance page.
  • The country you apply to must be your first point of entry, or the country where you spend the longest time.

Details differ between embassies, so check the full document list in our guide to Schengen visa requirements, and the official source on the European Commission website.

Flight reservation FAQ

An actual booking is a fully paid ticket you can travel with. A visa booking is a reservation with a PNR that proves your itinerary in your visa file; it cannot be used for boarding, and it costs only a service fee.

Because the visa decision may be delayed or refused, and embassies don’t want applicants to lose the price of a ticket before they know the outcome. That is why most accept a reservation that proves the itinerary.

Most Schengen, UK and US embassies accept a flight reservation as proof of itinerary, provided it is genuine and verifiable. Some embassies may ask for a confirmed ticket in special cases, so check your embassy’s requirements.

For tourist and visit visas, a return trip is preferred to show your intention to return. You can order one-way if you have residence or a work or study visa in the destination country.

A confirmed reservation has a PNR registered with the airline and appears when you search for it on the airline’s website. A fake booking is an altered document that does not appear in the airline’s system, and submitting it can lead to a visa refusal. We only issue the first kind.

Usually between 48 hours and 14 days, depending on the airline and route. Write your embassy appointment date in the notes, and we issue the reservation so it is valid on the day of your interview.

Yes. It is cancelled from the airline’s system when it expires, with no fees for you.

The embassy or visa centre can verify it with the PNR and surname on the airline’s website, which is why the reservation must be genuine.

Yes, as long as it is valid and matches the itinerary in each application, but it is best for the route to match the country whose embassy you are applying to.
